Termination TerugBetaalRegeling Tecfidera®

As of December 1, 2021, a Personal Contribution for Tecfidera is no longer required. Health insurers will once again fully reimburse the medicine. The ‘TerugBetaalRegeling’ will therefore be terminated. Declarations can be submitted until September 1, 2022.

Tecfidera is reimbursed by health insurers. However, a mandatory Personal Contribution of €250,- per year was installed in March 2019. This meant that patients needed to finance up to €250,- per year.

The manufacturer didn’t want treatment with Tecfidera to come with additional costs for patients. They therefore repaid the Personal Contribution through a ‘TerugBetaalRegeling’ (repayment scheme), facilitated by TBR Nederland.

As of December 1, 2021, the Personal Contribution for Tecfidera will be ended. As of that day, a Personal Contribution is no longer necessary. Health insurers will once again fully reimburse the medicine, although the deductible excess continues to apply (currently set at €385,- per year).

This means that the TerugBetaalRegeling (repayment scheme) will be terminated. Declarations can be submitted until September 1, 2022, to ensure that everyone has sufficient time to submit a declaration for Personal Contributions made in 2021.
